But reaching for that can be impossible if no one was ever able to show you what truly matters. If you grew up in a household focused on survival, there probably wasn’t room for basic life skills, healthy relationships, or personal exploration. In that environment, you likely picked up habits - such as prioritizing immediate relief or always putting others first - that served you well back then, but don’t fit the life you want now.
Now you have a chance to build the foundation you missed, exactly how you want it. Replacing outdated habits and being true to yourself is brave and difficult work. But it can also be full of energy, pride, and a life you finally own.
Hoping for something better may feel too risky. In the past, striving for improvement may have only led to more pain.
